Over 1,000 responses help shape the Strategic and Local Plan
Between January and March 2024, Cheltenham Borough, Gloucester City and Tewkesbury Borough councils held a public consultation on a long-term development plan, called the Strategic and Local Plan, or SLP.
This first key stage in the process asked questions about important issues such as how we should plan for future housing and economic growth, how to improve the environment and what policies we might need to combat climate change.
Seven in-person drop in events were held across the three areas, along with a range of online workshops, offering the opportunity for a focussed conversation on topics. A new consultation portal provided people with the opportunity to leave feedback, add ideas and engage with others.
In total, well over 1,000 people responded and the team spoke to around 450 people at the in-person and online consultation events.
The next step is to process and evaluate the responses and use them to inform the next stage of the process. This will include a preferred strategy, proposed site allocations and draft policies.
Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation.
