Tewkesbury Borough Council joins Gloucester City Council to approve a consultation for the Strategic and Local Plan
At last night’s meeting of its Full Council, Tewkesbury Borough Council Members voted unanimously to launch a consultation on the new Strategic and Local Plan.
They now join Gloucester City Council in approving the consultation following a meeting of its Full Council on 16 November, and await the decision from Cheltenham Borough Council in two weeks’ time. If approved by each of the three district councils, the consultation will launch the week commencing 18 December 2023.
The Strategic and Local Plan will set a vision and blueprint for the scale, form and location of new development in Cheltenham Borough, Gloucester City and Tewkesbury Borough, as well as detailed policies to inform how proposals should come forward. However, at this early stage, the consultation will be mainly asking people’s views about the vision and what matters they think the plan should address.
Should it be approved by Cheltenham Borough Council, further details on how to take part in the consultation will also be published.
Further consultations, including on the detail of site locations, will follow in 2025 before the final submission to the Secretary of State and Planning Inspectorate for independent examination in April 2026.
